BMW 5 series, elegant business class cars, entered production in 1972 and are still being manufactured. The cars are assembled in Germany, India, China, Egypt, Thailand, Russia and other countries. The History of the BMW 5 series

By the present day, there were seven generations and three facelifts made. The E12, the sedan of the first generation was manufactured in 1972. The E28, cars of the second generation was the first to be fitted with diesel engines in the history of the company.

The representatives of the third generation, the E34, were the first all-wheel-drive cars in this series. In 1995, the production of the sedan and five-door BMW 5 series estate car (E39) began. The parts of the suspension used in these cars were made of aluminium. Due to this, the curb weight of the car was reduced resulting in better steering.

In 2010, The debut of the F10 sedan took place at the International Auto Show in Leipzig. The car received the Red Dot Design Award.

The Features of the BMW 5 series (G30/G3)

In February 2017, 5 series sedan of the seventh generation, the G30, had its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. In March 2017, at the Geneva Motor Show, the five-door estate car of the seventh generation, the G31, was introduced to the public.

The body of the sedan was made of aluminium and high-strength steel. Due to this, having larger dimensions the car weighs nearly 100 kg less than its predecessor the F10.

The appearance of the BMW 5 series cars of the new generation hasn’t changed greatly. The distinctive features were large radiator grilles, prolonged LED headlights.

The cabin is fitted with the iDrive system with a 10.25-inch touch screen. The centre console faces the driver and can include voice and gesture control systems.
