Types of lubricants by the NLGI grade

  • NLGI 2. May contain both organic and inorganic thickeners. Temperature between 80 and 600 °C. May contain graphite.
  • NLGI 3. Contains lithium and lithium-calcium thickeners. Temperature - 180 °C.

Functions of lubrication

The basis of almost any lubricant is mineral oil with thickeners often added. Its viscosity is determined by the number and the type of additives. It also contains additives that ensure protection.   • remove the old lubricant completely;
  • fill only the quantities of the lubricant that are specified in the user manual for the component;
  • use the lubricants recommended by the manufacturer.
