A.B.S. suspension arms are produced by All Brake System company – a large Dutch automotive components manufacturer. Since the moment of its establishing in 1978, the company has specialized in production of brake components. Later it expanded its assortment by adding parts for suspension and steering system. Nowadays, about 30,000 spare parts for cars of most makes and models are presented in the company’s catalogue. The components produced under this brand are of the highest quality in the mid-price segment.

Types

Depending on the car design, the components can have various types of fastening. The most common are:

Ball joints. The optimal diameter of the ball joint head provides durability of the unit and its resistance to various kinds of loads. The insert, made of durable plastics is not apt to abrasion, which guarantees absence of free play during the whole operational lifetime of the part.
Bushings. Elastic elements of metal-rubber mounts are characterized by resistance to cracking, deformation and delamination. They damp vibrations well and withstand high loads.

By a production material:

Cast iron. They are heavy and resistant to deformation. They are rarely used.
Steel. They have well-balanced characteristics and withstand shock loads well.
Aluminium. They are light, ensure driving comfort and contribute to fuel economy.

By design, A.B.S. suspension arms can be divided into:

Able to be disassembled. They are cheaper in use, as the ball joints or bushings can be replaced separately. They have more weight comparing to solid ones.
Solid.They are replaced in an assembly, as the ball joints or rubber bushings are pressed into the body of the part and flared.

By shape and number of mounting points, there are the following types of the parts:

Straight. They can have 2–4 mounting points located in a row.
Triangular. Its design features three mounting points. While the components themselves can have L, U, A or Y shape.
H-shaped. They have four mounting points. They are quite rarely used. These arms are notable for high durability.
