Production of Daihatsu Terios crossover started in Japan in 1997 and still continues. The twins of this model on the Japanese market are Toyota Cami and Daihatsu Be-go. In Malaysia it is known as Toyota Rush and Perodua Nautica, in India ‒ as Premier RiO. Its twin model is manufactured in China under Zotye Nomad name.
History of Daihatsu Terios cars
The model is presented on the European market by two generations and two restyled versions. The first generation of Daihatsu Terios, which appeared in 1997, got J100 index. They were all-wheel drive 5-seat cars. A smaller car, Kid, was produced for the Japanese Domestic market.
Restyling of J100 was made in 2000. The car, designated for the European market, got a new radiator grille. The elongated turn indicators were replaced with round ones. The standard equipment list of the car included the power steering, immobilizer and two airbags. The power windows and rear seats headrests were available in extended package.
The second generation of Daihatsu Terios cars, J200, was released in 2006. The manufacturer offered trim levels with all- and rear-wheel drive. 7-seat cars, J700, became available during that period. Sale of these cars has stopped in Europe since 2013. While the third generation appeared in Indonesia in 2017.
Features of restyled Daihatsu Terios J200
Exterior of the car became more austere and laconic after restyling. If previously the radiator grille was decorated with chrome on the top and sides, then, after restyling there was only a chromed plank in its upper part. Black frames of the fog lights disappeared. And rear light red housing of Terios crossover was replaced with the white one. The multifunctional steering wheel promoted comfortable exploitation of the car. Moreover, design of the central console was changed.
