The longitudinal accelerometer doesn’t have a defined service life, therefore, it only needs to be replaced when it stops working.
If you do not have relevant experience and the necessary equipment, visiting a repair shop to replace the part is recommended. This is because the installation requires strict observance of the tightening torque and sometimes, initialization using a computer is necessary.
Depending on the vehicle design, the device can be located in different places, for example, under the steering wheel column, driver’s seat or between the front seats. If you choose to replace the spare by yourself, read vehicle’s technical documents carefully.
