The Jaguar F-Type is a sports car made by the British car manufacturer, which is in production since 2013 till present. The model received countless awards among which are Convertible of the Year 2013 from BBC TopGear, Car of the Year 2013 according to the Stuff magazine and Convertible of the Year 2013 from the FHM magazine.

The history of Jaguar F-Type vehicles

During the production time, one generation and one facelift of Jaguar F-Type vehicles were released. The model is offered with two body styles: two-seater convertible and coupé. The debut of the convertible took place at the Paris Motor Show in 2012 and the coupé was unveiled in 2013 in Los Angeles. American singer Lana Del Rey became the face of the model.

The car was built on a shortened platform of the ХК model and was offered with a rear- and all-wheel drive. Among the distinctive features of the car is chassis made from aluminium. Moreover, it is characterised by excellent sound and vibration insulation. In particular, this is ensured by a double bulkhead between the engine bay and cabin. The retractable roof of the F-Type convertible was made from fabric which allowed to make the centre of gravity as low as possible. At the same time, the material has a special layer Thinsulate, due to which, according to the manufacturer, its thermal and sound insulation are close to those of a metal roof.

The company has also made limited editions 400 Sport and Project 7. The first one was characterised by the Super Performance additional braking system and Configurable Dynamics system which allowed drivers to choose individual settings for the transmission, steering and throttle. The Project 7 cars accelerated to 100 km/h in 3.8 s and attained the maximum speed of 299 km/h. In total, 250 such cars were made. Singer and car enthusiast Brian Johnson purchased one of them.

Features of the Jaguar F-Type generation I cars, facelift

In 2017, the updated Jaguar F-Type convertible and coupé were unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show. Among the most prominent changes in the car’s exterior is a new configuration of the bumper air inlets. The roof of the convertible is offered in four colour options. It is extended and retracted even when driving at the speed up to 50 km/h in less than 12 seconds.

The interior of the cars looks respectable and provides maximum comfort. Light seats provide good lateral support and are characterised by a wide range of position adjustment. It is possible to choose the colour for cabin lighting. Even the base trim of the car features the Touch Pro multimedia system with a 10-inch touchscreen. There is also Meridian sound system with eight loudspeakers and two subwoofers.

Designers also took care of the driver and passengers’ safety implementing driver fatigue monitor system, lane departure warning system, traffic sign recognition. There is also the Rain Ice Snow mode for driving in adverse weather conditions. The car is fitted with six airbags. Apart from that, in order to reduce the severity of pedestrian injuries in accidents, there is a deployable bonnet system.
