The Saab 9-7X was the first SUV of the brand and was manufactured from 2005 until 2008. The production was carried out in the USA.
The history of Saab 9-7X
The model had only one generation. Its debut took place at the New York International Auto Show in 2004. The car was manufactured by the General Motors company and was marketed as a successor to the Oldsmobile Bravada.
The new car was developed for the North American market; however, it was also sold in some European countries as well. For example, in the Netherlands, that vehicle was available starting from 2006 and was the most popular car of the brand. The vehicle was the second most luxurious SUV of General Motors surpassed only by Cadillac Escalade.
Unlike other cars of the brand, those vehicles weren’t equipped with a turbocharger. The Displacement on Demand technology became available for the SUVs of 2008 model year fitted with a 5.3 l, V8, 299 hp petrol engine. The implementation of that technology allowed reducing the fuel consumption. Besides, the manufacturer used a self-levelling rear air suspension and fitted the front axle with steel brake callipers.
The features of Saab 9-7X
These SUVs were quite sizable: 4922 mm long, 1915 mm wide, 1791 mm high. With rear seats folded, the luggage compartment capacity could reach 2268 l. Notable exterior features include a three-segment radiator grille with chrome trim, massive bumpers and wide wheel arches. The vehicle had leather upholstery as standard. There were also wooden or aluminium elements in the passenger compartment and a sunroof.
It was an all-wheel-drive model and could tow up to 2,900 kg. The efficient braking was ensured by ventilated brake discs, for instance. The list of the standard equipment included heated front seats, climate control, Bose audio system as well as the HomeLink system for controlling the garage door remotely. A sat nav with a touchscreen was available for an extra charge.
