Plastic. They are light and in most cases inexpensive items which are resistant to corrosive damages. The main disadvantage of such wheel covers is their poor resistance to low temperatures. They are made in various colours.
Rubber. They are resistant to chipping and deformation. The items quickly restore their initial shape in case of damaging and are able to absorb moderate impacts.

By their shape, the wheel covers are divided into flat and convex ones. And depending on the fastening type the accessories can be:

With clips and a retention ring. They are easy in mounting, but do not provide sufficient reliability. Large amount of fastening elements is necessary for secure mounting.
Fastened with wheel hub bolts. They are fastened securely, however require wheel demonting.

Tips on car wheel covers use

Use only items of the diameter corresponding with your car wheel parameters.
As a rule, the car wheel covers can well withstand automated car wash. Also they can be cleaned manually using a sponge and soap solution or wheel cleaning agents. Be sure to remove the wheel covers and remove dirt from their inner sides from time to time.
