Production of Mitsubishi Space Star minivan started in 1998 and ended in 2005. Assembling was established in the Netherlands. During production time this model repeatedly was the most-demanded car of the brand on the European market.
History of Mitsubishi Space Star cars
This model is represented by only one generation and one restyled version. Length of the minivans was 4030 mm, width – 1715 mm, height – 1515 mm. Maximum volume of the luggage compartment reached 1370 liters. Independent suspension and disc brake system on the front axle were used in these front-wheel drive cars. Depending on modification, top speed of the car could be 170–190 km/h.
Functionality of Mitsubishi Space Star cars was accented by minimalistic exterior. The radiator and bumper grilles painted in body colour are rather compact. The headlights are almost rectangular. The lines stamped out on the bonnet and rear body part added certain dynamics to car appearance.
In 2002 the model underwent restyling, and three years later Space Star minivan was taken out of production. However, since 2012 the company uses this name for Mitsubishi Mirage hatchbacks of the sixth generation, which are sold on the European market.
Features of restyled first generation Mitsubishi Space Star
Thanks to slight changes, appearance of the car became more impressive. In particular, good solution was presence of the black bumper grille, with large air inlets on its sides. The radiator grille was also painted in black colour. The round turn indicators were distinguishable in the rear light clusters. The front fog lights became available. Length of the car increased to 4050 mm. Width and height remained the same.
Space Star were standardly equipped with power side mirrors, air conditioner with anti-allergy filter, heated front seats. Many bins for things storing were provided in the passenger compartment, while the luggage compartment featured clothes hooks and net.
