The Lancia Ypsilon vehicles have been manufactured since 2003 till the present time. They are among the best selling models of Lancia. The annual output was about 60,000 units. The cars of the first generation were manufactured in Italy, the vehicles of the second generation are rolling off the assembly line in Poland. In Great Britain, Ireland and Japan, the model is marketed under the Chrysler brand.

The history of the Lancia Ypsilon vehicles

The car is represented by two generations and two facelifts. The first generation of Ypsilon which entered the production in 2003 got the index 843. It was made in a three-door hatchback body style. Depending on the trim level, the range of standard equipment might include air conditioning, a sound system which supported CD and MP3, cruise-control. Side mirrors were heated and electrically adjustable. Two-zone climate control could be a standard or optional feature.

In 2006, the model underwent a facelift. The contours of the radiator grille became more exquisite, the shape of the air intake in the front bumper changed. Fog lights became smaller and gained black frames and, on the contrary, black mouldings on the bumpers disappeared. Besides, after the facelift, the Blue & Me multimedia system became available.

In 2011, the manufacturer produced the second generation, the 846. It was a car built on the Fiat Mini platform which was also used in the Fiat Panda. The new five-door hatchback Ypsilon at first seemed to have three doors because of the unusual location of the rear door handles: they were built in the window frames. The silhouette of the car completely changed having become more dynamic. The radiator grille lost the vertical bar which divided it into two sections, and now it was filled with horizontal bars. The headlights became more extended and gained a wavy curve of the upper line. A prominent feature of the rear end of the car body were LED lights of an unusual shape.

The range of the equipment of the car included 4 airbags, electronic stability programme and traction control, ABS with EBD, Magic Parking automatic parking system. In 2015, the hatchback was renewed.

Features of the Lancia Ypsilon 846 cars facelift

The debut of the facelifted version took place at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main. The five-door hatchback Lancia Ypsilon gained a narrow honeycomb radiator grille, and the air intake of the bumper was trimmed with an exquisite, curved chrome bar. The rear bumper, in its turn, was painted in the body colour.

The cars are fitted with the Uconnect multimedia system with a 5-inch touchscreen. Also available is a digital radio with an integrated navigation system or without it. Moreover, even the base trim can be supplemented with such options as headrests of the rear seats and rear parking sensors.
