What are rubber brake hoses?
Rubber brake hoses are standard for most cars. They have a three-layer structure. The inner rubber layer holds the brake fluid in. The middle layer, made of a metal mesh, prevents deformation and cracking. The outer rubber shell protects against aggressive external factors. The advantages of these rubber components are the low price combined with good functional properties and high wear resistance. The main drawback is the porosity of rubber, which allows air, as well as water, to enter the system. This affects the brake fluid properties. In addition, due to their high elasticity, they increase in diameter under pressure, and this reduces the braking performance.
