What is a double-spark ignition coil?
The double-spark ignition coil has two high-voltage leads and supplies the spark to two cylinders simultaneously. In one of them, ignition of the fuel-air mixture takes place. Components of this type are only used in cars with engines that have an even number of combustion chambers. Accordingly, four-cylinder engines require two of these coils and six-cylinder engines require four. One of the terminals is connected to the spark plug by means of high-voltage wires, the other is connected directly. They work together with an electronic ignition distributor, making them efficient and reliable.
