The SsangYong Musso vehicles were manufactured between 1993 and 2005. In 2018, the production of the model was resumed. At various times, the vehicles rolled off the assembly lines in South Korea, Vietnam, Russia, Iran and other countries. In 1994, the car got the international Good Design Award and in 1994 and 1996 received the Auto Design award at the Birmingham Auto Show. In 1994, racers won the Rallye des Pharaons in Egypt driving that car. Between 1998 and 2002, similar vehicles were also sold under the brand name Daewoo. Besides, TagAZ Road Partner and SsangYong Rexton Sports are also twins of this model.
The history of SsangYong Musso
Two generations and one facelift were released. Apart from SUVs, the manufacturer also produced convertibles and four-door pickup trucks Sports. They were all equipped with an all-wheel drive. The design of vehicles of the first generation was developed by the professor at the British Royal College of Art (RCA) Ken Greenley. It was had excellent aerodynamics (the drag coefficient of just 0.36) and was equipped with power units produced under a license from Mercedes-Benz. After the facelift of 1997, engines with intercoolers were added to the range, and front-wheel drive versions appeared. The car was discontinued in 2005.
The features of SsangYong Musso (II generation)
In 2018, at the Geneva Motor Show, the second generation of the model was unveiled, with a pickup body style. It has a huge front bumper with a large air intake, polyangular headlights with LED daytime running lights. At the sides of the bonnet, there are sculpted decorative elements, and the grille is decorated with a horizontal chrome-plated bar with the brand logo.
The passenger compartment is very spacious due to the flat floor. The rear seat backs can be tilted to an angle of 27 °. The doors have storage compartments for essentials, and there are cup holders and a USB port on the central console. All seats are heated and the front ones can also be ventilated as an optional extra. A three-spoke steering wheel is fitted with control buttons for the infotainment system and cruise control. The dashboard houses a 9.2-inch sat nav touchscreen.
The manufacturer offers a Smart system which includes Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Detection. The pickup truck is fitted with six airbags, electronic stability programme, and hill-start assist.
